Does oil pulling actually work for gum health?
The evidence for oil pulling is emerging rather than definitive, but multiple clinical studies have shown reductions in harmful oral bacteria, plaque, and gingival inflammation with regular oil pulling practice. We recommend it as a complement to — not a replacement for — standard oral hygiene. MCT coconut oil with CoQ10 is the formula we most commonly recommend for its antimicrobial properties and gum tissue support.

Is tongue scraping necessary?
In our clinical view, yes — particularly for patients in myofunctional therapy. The tongue harbors a significant proportion of the oral bacteria responsible for bad breath and microbiome imbalance. Standard brushing does not adequately clean the tongue surface. Daily tongue scraping with a stainless steel scraper is a simple, effective habit that supports oral microbiome health, freshens breath, and contributes to the overall oral hygiene foundation that myofunctional therapy builds on.
